Biographical/Historical:     Frank Stoutamire began his career in law enforcement in 1918 as a deputy sheriff in Leon County. He served as Leon County Sheriff from May 1923 to January 1953. Soon thereafter, Tallahassee city manager Arvah Hopkins appointed him Chief of Police for Tallahassee, which he remained until 1968. Stoutamire played a major role in the 1956 Tallahassee bus boycott. He died in 1973.

Summary:     This collection consists of photographs and home videos of Frank Stoutamire and his family in the Leon County area and on vacation between 1928 and 1959. Images include a raid on a moonshine still, the 1958 Tallahassee snow storm, local farming, logging, the Stoutamire family, and a 1928 class at Caroline Brevard Elementary School. Also included is one glass slide of a seventeenth century Anastasia Island map.
