Biographical/Historical:     Elizabeth Lucinda (Grice) Taylor was born in North Carolina on August 25, 1830. She married William Newton Taylor, born June 8, 1825, and the couple moved to Duval County, Florida to establish a labor farm near Black Creek. Elizabeth and William had five children: Sarah B. (1852-1873), Elizabeth Roberta (b. 1854), Charles Theodore (1856-1873), William Newton II (1860-1916), and Leslie Alexandra (1866-1909).

The Taylor family spread out across northern Florida during the late 1800s, establishing residences in Leon and Wakulla counties while maintaining property in Duval County. Various marriages connect the Taylor family to other noted Florida families - Collins, Hatch, Hollingsworth, Grice, Moseley, and Tyler - such as the marriage of William Newton Taylor II to Mary Charlotte (Collins) Taylor in 1889.

Charles Collins Taylor (ca. 1900-1983) was born to William Newton and Mary C. Collins Taylor. The family lived in Tallahassee, Florida.

Summary:     The collection contains two undated photographs of the Taylor family residence at 618 Duval Street in Tallahassee, Florida. One of the photographs is only half of a print.
