Biographical/Historical:     George Walker Rees was born in 1877 in DeSoto County, Florida. He became a Major in the United States Army and served with General Pershing during World War I. He also served as the commandant of Fort Barrancas in Pensacola, Florida, at one time.

    The Adicks family lived in Lake City (Columbia County), Florida. George Otto Adicks was Lake City's first Fire Chief in 1883 when he organized a volunteer company of 24 men to fight fires.

Summary:     This collection contains photographs of the Rees and Adicks family of Lake City (Columbia County), Florida. Most of the photographs are portraits, including two of Major General George Walker Rees and an autographed photo of General Robert E. Lee. There is a photograph of the Adicks family's first home in Lake City with their bread wagon in the foreground. There are a few large family group photographs. There is also a photograph of the G.I. Girls of FSU in 1946.
