Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Centennial Celebration marked the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the Florida Legislative Council. The week-long event took place in Tallahassee, Florida, from November 9 to 15, 1924. Ceremonies for white citizens began on Sunday, November 9, with church services in all of Tallahassee's churches and ended on Friday, November 14, with a reception and a Territorial Costume Ball at the Florida State College for Women. Black citizens wishing to celebrate the centennial were relegated to the last day of the celebration week; Saturday, November 15, was reserved as "Negro activities day."

Summary:     This collection contains photographs taken of the Florida Centennial Celebration parade in Tallahassee on November 14, 1924. Photographs depict floats from various Florida counties designed to represent the history and progress of Florida since 1824. The parade route included North Monroe Street and white spectators lined the streets to view the procession.
