Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Centennial Celebration marked the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the Florida Legislative Council. The week-long event took place in Tallahassee, Florida, from November 9 to 15, 1924. Ceremonies for white citizens began on Sunday, November 9, with church services in all of Tallahassee's churches and ended on Friday, November 14, with a reception and a Territorial Costume Ball at the Florida State College for Women. Celebration events for Black Floridians were relegated to one day only--the last day of the celebration week.
Summary:     This single-item collection contains the 1924 Centennial Tallahassee program. The celebration consisted of a week of events related to the history of Tallahassee as the Capitol City. The program lists hour-by-hour details of events for each day of the week except for Saturday, November 15, which is simply titled "Negro activities day."
