Summary:     The records in this series deal with the efforts of the executive branch to manage the affairs of the state after a disaster, natural or human, has occurred.  While other storms and an airplane crash into the Everglades are also covered, the majority of the records deal with south Florida and its attempts to recover from the devastation wrought by Hurricane Andrew.  Types of records that can be found are: correspondence between levels of government, among state agencies, and between local agencies and state agencies; legislative bills on the state and federal levels; financial reports; and many accounting records/reports.  The accounting records tracked the monies flowing to south Florida from  federal coffers through the state's agencies; the expenditures of state agencies that might be reimbursed by federal agencies; and the money spent by the state itself without recourse to outside help.
There is no discernible organization to the records, which appear to have been kept as files by several unidentified individuals who were responsible for various aspects of disaster response by the Executive Office of the Governor.  Therefore, the majority of the series is arranged by date with the first four boxes given to records dealing with Hurricane Andrew.  Boxes 5 and 6 contain records identified as belonging to other events as well as follow-ups on Andrew.  Box 6 continues with these types of records as well as notebooks that are identified by their compilers names, i.e. "Karen Hellend's Notebook"; "Karen's Andrew Book"; and "Sandy Sartin Notebook" and seem to cover the events in a chronological manner.
