Biographical/Historical:     Levi (1824-1886) and Mary Davis (1824-1889) lived on the border of Florida and Georgia, between Thomas (Ga.) and Jefferson (Fla.) counties. The couple married in Jefferson County in 1847 and had at least three children: Nancy, Catherine, and Flavius.

    On December 31, 1866, Wesley B. Taylor purchased the 101-acre Davis property from the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Fund of Florida for $2.50 per acre through "An Act to Provide for and Encourage a Liberal System of Internal Improvement in this State."
Summary:     This collection of Davis family papers includes financial records, legal documents, contracts, deeds, and bonds. The bulk of the materials are the papers of Levi and Mary Davis. The business records deal primarily with their estate on the Florida and Georgia border in Jefferson County, Florida. The collection also contains legal contracts, deeds and bonds of Levi Davis with William H. Blalock of Thomas County, Georgia, and William Duncan and Robert L. Aiken of Leon County.
