The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     This series contains records relating to Division of Library and Information Services and the implementation of a statewide library automation plan under Division Director Barratt Wilkins.  The bulk of the series deals with the Division's own Automation Committee, and is comprised of its correspondence, proposals, and reports.  Also included is a 1987 Florida State University-Florida Center for Public Management survey and report on the scheduled division-wide automation project.  The series includes materials used as sources for the 1987 study, such as a 1978 Work Count study analyzing work volume output to assist in the State Library's budgeting and planning, a 1982 Electronic Data Processing plan conducted in conjunction with a STAR grant application through Florida State University's Center for Information Research, a 1984 evaluation on establishing a center of library automation within the state university system and a 1985 King Research study of existing statewide automated library systems.
