The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     The series contains copies of commission certificates for individuals appointed by the Governor to local government positions from 1901 to 1951.  The certificates were filed with the Secretary of State according to Chapter 113.06 F.S.  Each certificate specifies:  the name of the person being commissioned; the office title; the term of office; official signatures of the Governor and Secretary of State; and occasionally the date of filing of the oath and bond by the commissioned officer.  The State and County Directories (Series 1284) serve as the index to this series.
