Biographical/Historical:     The Foreclosure Study Commission was created by the Florida Legislature in 1991 (Ch. 91-116, Laws). Comprised of 13 members, the Commission was charged with reviewing the existing mortgage foreclosure process to identify problems in the system, including those particular to condominiums. The Commission was to review other foreclosure systems and alternatives, including non-judicial foreclosures, and make recommendations as to how the system could operate more efficiently. The Commission was disbanded upon completion of their final report to the Legislature in January 1992.
Summary:     The series contains the records of the Foreclosure Study Commission from 1991-1992. The records include correspondence, public hearing files, reports, subject files, and some reference material. The records document the Commission's role in reviewing existing mortgage foreclosure systems, particularly those related to condominiums.
