Summary:     The series contains the oaths and letters of acceptance, and commissions for the State Militia from 1846-1874.  Upon notification of their commission, the officers swore an oath and signed an acceptance letter which was then returned to the Secretary of State.  Information included in the records are name, rank, unit, county and date of commission.  Also included in the collection is a folder of certificates of commissions (10 items) most of which appear to be commissions that were refused.  The last folder contains a document that gives authorization for a Major General's commission issued by the 1861 Secession Convention.
