Biographical/Historical:     Bruce Armistead Smathers was Florida's eighteenth Secretary of State.  Smathers served from January 1975 to June 1978, at which time he resigned to run for Governor of the State of Florida.  From July 1978 until January 1979, Jessie J. McCrary served out Smather's term of office.
Summary:     This series consists of a variety of speeches made by Secretary Smathers to different organizations and groups from 1974 to 1978. There is correspondence and background information included in some of the files.
