The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Governor's Commission on Drug and Alcohol Concerns was created by an executive order (Ch. 84-67, Laws) of Governor Bob Graham on March 27, 1984.  It was established to identify issues relating to drug and alcohol abuse, to develop policies and strategies; to increase public awareness, and to create a coordinated and comprehensive approach in promoting actions to eradicate drug and alcohol abuse.  The Commission was abolished in 1986.
Summary:     The series contains the records of the Governor's Commission on Drug and Alcohol Concerns from 1984-1986.  The files include correspondence, reading files, meeting files, subject files and audiovisual materials.  The records document the Commission's effort to gather facts and explore policy in an effort to eradicate substance abuse.
