Terms Governing Use:
Biographical/Historical:     The original construction of the present Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, Florida was completed in 1957.  It was designed by Marion S. Wyeth, Palm Beach architect, of the firm Wyeth, King & Johnson in 1955.  The residence has a Greek Revival theme and bears resemblance to the Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson near Nashville.  The Mansion has distinct separation of "state" and "family" quarters.
Summary:     The series contains the Governor's Mansion construction and landscape plans for 1955, 1961, and 1988-1989 maintained by the Dept. of General Services.  The bulk of the materials are architectural drawings from 1955 for the construction of the Governor's Mansion by the architectural firm of Wyeth, King & Johnson of Palm Beach, Florida.  Its specifications manual for the Governor's Mansion is also included.
    The series also contains miscellaneous architectural drawings from later dates, including the 1961 revisions of Wyeth, King & Johnson; proposed plans by Hicks/Nation Architects; and the Dept. of General Services blueprint No. 01911 of the Governor's Mansion. Landscape architectural plans include drawings by the firms of Smith-Gilchrist for 1988 and Hodges & Associates for 1989.
