Biographical/Historical:     The Division of Electronic Data Processing, part of the Dept. of General Services, was established in 1967 (Ch. 67-253, Laws) as the Florida Electronic Data Processing Management Board.  The Division was charged with establishing and supervising the administration of data processing centers that would serve the needs of all state agencies.  The Division could designate existing agencies as data processing centers.  It directed and coordinated the efforts of data processing systems and operating personnel in order to achieve effective and economical data processing services.  The Division approved specifications for data processing or teleprocessing systems and equipment, coordinating with the Auditor General all system development involving auditing, accounting, and financial reporting. The Division was in charge of acquiring any data processing, data transmission, or teleprocessing equipment, communication lines, devices, or instruments necessary for the operation of any data processing center.  The Division was dissolved in 1983; its functions were assumed by the Information Resource Commission, under the Executive Office of the Governor, (Ch. 83-92, Laws).
Summary:     This series contains the audit back-up materials for the Division of Electronic Data Processing from 1973 to 1983.  The audit reports of the Auditor General that these materials support are located in Series 733.
