The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Tallahassee Jewish Federation is the name under which the Apalachee Federation of Jewish Charities, Inc. (AFJC) does business. AFJC incorporated in 1983 as a non-profit corporation in Florida. The AJFC engages in fund-raising activities for the support of humanitarian and social services for Jews in the local area, in the United States, in Israel, and in more than forty other countries around the world. It also uses money for Jewish education and culture.

Summary:     This collection consists of records maintained by presidents of the Apalachee Federation of Jewish Charities, Inc. (Tallahassee Jewish Federation) documenting activities and events conducted by the Federation. The collection includes minutes and agendas of Federation board meetings, correspondence between the presidents and members and other Jewish organizations such as United Jewish Appeal concerning donations to charity, financial statements, newsletters, and news clippings. The records document activities such as fund-raising programs, art exhibition on Holocaust themes, distributing to local schools and colleges an "Educator's Guide to the Jewish Holidays," and Soviet Jewish resettlement programs.
