Biographical/Historical: ****DEACCESSIONED****    The Lee Family of Virginia was one of the United States most prominent early political families. Descended from Richard Lee, the family included many military, diplomatic, and political figures from America's Revolutionary War period: Arthur Lee, Francis Lightfoot Lee, Henry Lee, Richard Henry Lee, and Thomas Lee. Robert E. Lee is also a later descendant of this family.

Summary: ****DEACCESSIONED****    This collection contains microfilm copies of the Lee Family papers, including correspondence between various members of the Lee Family and other notable figures in American history from the 1700s to early 1800s. The correspondents include John Adams, Samuel Adams, Thomas Cushing, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, the Marquis de LaFayette, James Hamilton, and George Washington.
