The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Migrant Labor Program to help Florida's seasonal agricultural workers was originally established under the Division of Migrant Labor in the Department of Community Affairs in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws).  The Program was transferred to the Department's Division of Community Services in 1974 (Ch. 74-307, Laws) and then to the Executive Office of the Governor in 1979 (Ch. 79-190, Laws). The Program was under the Inspector General who followed up complaints lodged by workers and others.  In 1987, Governor Bob Martinez abolished the Office of the Inspector General; the Program was transferred to the Citizens' Assistance Office.
Summary:     This series consists of the administrative files of the Migrant Labor Program, 1973-1991.  The records include correspondence, legislative files, memoranda, newspaper clippings, publications, reports, and information regarding migrant labor programs in other states.
