This collection consists of the architectural drawings of Charles Benda Associates produced by Charles J. Benda and his staff and interns in the design of over 600 offices, stores, shopping centers, banks, warehouses, churches, schools, houses, and apartment buildings in Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Among Benda's designs for new or remodeled structures are a crime laboratory for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement; a local branch office of the Internal Revenue Service; several branch offices of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles; many of the original stores and restaurants (food court) in Governor's Square Mall; Temple Israel (Mahan Drive); Unitarian Church (Meridian Road); United Church in Tallahassee (Mahan Drive); Holy Comforter Episcopal Church (Miccosukee Road); medical, law, and other offices in the Capital Commons office complex (Capital Circle) and Metropolitan Center (Capital Medical Boulevard); restaurants ranging from Nino's to Lucy Ho's to Whataburger; and numerous residences in Tallahassee as well as coastal residences.
