Biographical/Historical:     William P. Slusser was a merchant, hotelier, and manufacturer who operated in Tallahassee. Born in Ohio in 1825, Slusser moved to Tallahassee in 1849. In 1859, he began his business venture when he purchased and began operating a general store, William O. Slusser and Co. General Merchandise, on Monroe Street near the capitol. He also took over management of the City Hotel in 1874.
Summary:     This collection contains volumes documenting some of the business activities of Tallahassee entrepreneur William P. Slusser. His records include a book of correspondence copies (usually dealing with orders made), daily account books, and the register book of the City Hotel for the five-year period 1874 to 1879 when it was the only hotel in the capital city.
