Biographical/Historical:     William Henry Harrison "Harry" Holdridge (1831-1909) was a native of Illinois. In the late 19th century, he moved to Alachua County, Florida, with his wife Ella Judith Crane.

Summary:     This collection consists of photocopies of a letter and photograph of William H. H. "Harry" Holdridge. He wrote the letter, dated February 1, 1883, to his niece Lizzie, and details his travels in Florida, especially along the St. Johns and Indian Rivers. The letter discusses Florida's climate and vegetation, prospects for successful citrus farming, plans for moving to Florida, and family and business matters back in Illinois. The photograph is a formal portrait of Holdridge, undated. There is also a photocopy of a page from the 1900 Alachua County census that lists William H. H. Holdridge and his wife Ella.
