Biographical/Historical:     The Commission on Bail Bond Reform was created in 1982 by the Florida Legislature (Ch. 82-175, Laws).  The Commission was created to study the existing criminal bail system, analyze public bail alternatives, and review proposed pretrail release reforms. Regular meetings were held in order to receive testimony, hear witnesses, and accumulate data. The Commission issued a final report in February 1984.
Summary:     This series contains the records of the Commission on Bond Reform from 1982 to 1984.  The records include correspondence, research files, minutes, cassette recordings of public hearings, transcripts of proceedings, and the final report of the Commission. The files document the activities of the Commission in studying pretrail release, various bonds, and the role of bail bondsmen in the criminal court system.
