Biographical/Historical:     In 1885, the United States Navy Bureau of Provisions and Clothing closed the Pensacola Navy Yard's Inspection of Provisions and Clothing. Lieutenant Commander W. C. Gibson, the commandant of the Pensacola Navy Yard, ordered a survey and inspection of the provisions and clothing at the base. He ordered all articles in good condition sent to Key West, and all articles unfit for use sold at auction.

Summary:     The collection contains a report on the provisions and clothing located at the Pensacola Navy Yard in Pensacola, Florida, prepared for the United States Navy Bureau of Provisions and Clothing in 1885. This item is a handwritten order and completed survey schedule. It gives some idea as to the articles used on Navy ships and how long they stored them.
