	Biographical/Historical:	The Tallahassee Democrat, Tallahassee's major daily newspaper, issued its first publication on March 3, 1905 as the Weekly True Democrat. The newspaper covers Leon County as well as adjacent Gadsden, Jefferson, and Wakulla counties. In the 1950s, soon after Allen Morris established the Florida Photographic Collection, the Tallahassee Democrat began turning over their negatives to the collection. They had destroyed all earlier assignment negatives and did not provide negatives from 1970 to 1980. In 1981, the newspaper again began depositing negatives with the collection.
	Summary:	This collection consists of about 100,000 acetate and polyester negatives taken for the Tallahassee Democrat during the second half of the twentieth century. Included are images depicting various news, society, and sports.
