Biographical/Historical:     Thomas P. Strickland owned a general store in Iamonia, Florida. Iamonia is an unincorporated, rural community in extreme northern Leon County on the eastern end of Lake Iamonia, about 15 miles northeast of Tallahassee.
Summary:     The collection documents the business transactions of Thomas P. Strickland's general store in Iamonia (Leon County), Florida. The ledgers contain a chronological itemization of goods purchased at the store that includes the customer's name and their purchases. It is an example of the types of purchases made at a country store in northern Florida during the late 19th and mid-20th centuries and provides economic information about members of the community. Also included with the 1953-1958 ledger is an alphabetical index listing the page numbers where individual customer's information are located.
