Biographical/Historical:     Louise Kelley Frisbie (1913-1989) was an author, distinguished historian, and prodigious collector of photographs. Florida Governor Reubin Askew appointed her to the Polk County Historical Commission in 1972, and she remained there for 16 years. She was also editor of the Polk County Historical Quarterly for four years. She was honored by the Florida Senate for her contributions to the preservation of regional history and by the Polk County Historical Association for service to the association and to the county. She authored three books pertaining to Florida history: "Peace River Pioneers," "Yesterday's Polk County," and "Florida's Fabled Inns."

Summary:     This collection consists of more than 1,400 black-and-white images of Florida people and places that Louise Frisbie collected. The images are of homes, hotels, and businesses, primarily in Winter Haven but also in Bartow and other places throughout Florida. Robert Dahlgren, a prominent Winter Have photographer, took many of the photographs during the first half of the 20th century. Also included in this collection are portraits of men, women, and children.
