Biographical/Historical:     Warren S. Henderson moved to Sarasota County, Florida, in 1955. He was a Republican state legislator, representing the Central Gulf Coast area of Florida for many years. He was Senator of the 32nd District (Charlotte, De Soto and Sarasota Counties) from 1963 to 1966; House Representative of Sarasota County from 1966 to 1967; Senator of the 32nd District again from 1967 to 1972; and Senator of the 25th District (Charlotte, Sarasota and Lee Counties) from 1972 to 1984. While Senator, he served as Senate Minority Leader (1970-1972); on the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform (1978); and as vice chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources (1978-1980). He has received many distinguished awards in office, many of which relate to his efforts on behalf of wildlife conservation. Henderson died in 2011.

Most of the collection consists of subject files covering a wide range of topics, among which are education, saltwater fisheries, environmental issues, insurance, and natural resources.
