Biographical/Historical:     Mallory E. Horne was born in 1925 in Tavares (Lake County), Florida. After serving in the Air Force during World War II, he opened a law practice in Tallahassee. He began his legislative career in 1955 representing Leon County in the Florida State House of Representatives. He became Speaker of the House in 1963. In 1966, he won election to the State Senate to represent Northwest Florida, which included Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Calhoun, Leon, Gadsden, Bay, and Jackson counties. From 1973 to 1974, he served as President of the Senate.
