Biographical/Historical:     Hugh M. Taylor, a native of Gadsden County, Florida, was a distinguished judge and expert on Florida's Constitution. He was a circuit judge of the Second Judicial Circuit from 1947 to 1976. Taylor was a member of the first Florida Constitution Revision Committee and played a major role in the revision of the state constitution in 1968. He was a member of its Executive Department Committee and chairman of its Drafting and Styles Committee.

Summary:     The collection contains the Florida Constitution revisions files of Hugh M. Taylor that he prepared for use by the Florida Constitution Revision Commission. The collection provides a detailed comparison of revisions made to the Florida Constitution from 1838 to 1868. It also shows which provisions did not carry forward from revision to revision. Included are typewritten copies of the Florida Constitutions of 1838, 1861, 1865, and 1868.
