Biographical/Historical:     William Dunn Moseley served as the first governor of the State of Florida, serving from 1845 to 1849. He was born in North Carolina on February 1, 1795, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth (Dunn) Moseley. In 1835 he bought a labor farm on Lake Miccosukee in Jefferson County, Florida, and resided there until 1851. He served in the territorial Legislature from 1840 to 1845 and defeated Richard Keith Call for Governor in the first election under statehood. In 1851 he settled in Palatka, where he operated a citrus grove. Moseley died on January 4, 1863.
