Biographical/Historical:     The Stephens family of Georgia moved to Florida in 1848 when John Hugh Stephens and his parents settled in Madison County, Florida. He served in the Civil War, returned afterwards to Madison County, married, and moved to Jacksonville. Branches of the family have lived in Thomas County, Georgia; Madison County, Florida; and Jacksonville, Florida.

Summary:     The collection contains materials related of the Stephens family of North Florida. The types of records include photographs, newspaper clippings, some letters and genealogical material.
