Biographical/Historical:     In 1824, Methodist missionaries from South Carolina established Trinity Church as the first Methodist Episcopal church in Tallahassee and one of the first in Florida. The first church building was a plain wooden structure erected on the corner of Bronough Street and West Park Avenue. Itinerant clergy served the church until 1828, when Rev. Josiah Freeman became the first permanent pastor. In 1840 the church moved to its present location on the corner of Duval Street and Park Avenue.

Summary:     The collection contains financial papers of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Tallahassee, Florida. The records consist mainly of receipts for the sale of cotton and for services rendered. The collection also contains some pages from an account ledger as well as a list of members pledging monetary support to the church in 1860-1861.
