Biographical/Historical:     Thomas J. Hodson (1807-1875) lived in Florida from 1843 to 1853. During that time, he played a prominent part in territorial and state politics. In 1845, his cousin, President James K. Polk, appointed him Register of Public Lands at the United States Land Office in Tallahassee. The President re-appointed Hodson to this post in 1849.
