Biographical/Historical:     The Brevard County Medical Society held its first meeting on October 15, 1903. After reading the sections and by-laws of the Florida Medical Society relating to the establishment of county medical societies, Dr. Platts moved to proceed to the organization of such a society in Brevard County. The physicians in attendance carried the motion, elected the Society's first officers, and adopted the constitution and by-laws.
Summary:     The collection contains the minutes of the initial meeting of the Brevard County Medical Society and minutes from meetings held between 1914 and 1947. The minutes document topics discussed, decisions made, and actions taken by the Society. There are no minutes for the period between 1903 and 1914, but there is a letter dated 1914 that discusses the 1908 meetings and includes membership lists for 1908-1914.
