Biographical/Historical:     When France, Spain and Britain signed the Treaty of Paris in 1763, Spain ceded Florida to Britain, which then divided the land into East and West Florida. East Florida was everything east of the Apalachicola River; West Florida was the land between the Apalachicola and Mississippi Rivers. To draw settlers, the London Board of Trade granted land to anyone willing to settle in Florida.
Summary:     This single-item collection consists of a British land grant to John McDougall of 2,000 acres in West Florida signed by Phillip Livingston on November 7, 1776.
