The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     "El Avance in Exilio" was an anti-Castro newspaper published by Jorge Zayas in Miami during the early 1960 and distributed in both North and South America. Zayas, a journalist and expert in economics and Latin-American affairs and history, first published the paper in Havana, Cuba. "Avance" was the first newspaper taken over by Castro's regime after he took power in Cuba. Zayas moved to Miami and continued to publish the paper, making it the first Cuban newspaper printed in exile.

Summary:     The collection contains business records related to the publication of "El Avance in Exilio" such as subscription receipts, circulation records, advertising records, account ledgers, invoices and subject files.  Also included are tapes of radio spots that the paper used.
