Biographical/Historical:     Union County was created by an act of the State Legislature in 1921 (Ch. 8516, Laws).  Union County was formed from the western portion of Bradford County.  The Clerk of the Court in each county serves as the official custodian of the record.
Summary:     The volume in this series is titled Volume A, Miscellaneous Records, Union County.  However, the material contained in this volume is actually from Bradford County beginning in 1897.  Union County was part of Bradford County and when Union County was created in 1921, this material in Volume A was transcribed from Bradford county records.  Each entry in this volume has a citation to the Bradford County Miscellaneous Volume from which the material was transcribed.  This volume is not indexed.
    The material in this series consists primarily of real estate transactions, property leases, timber leases, trusts, probate records, and commissions of county officers.  Of particular interest are transactions involving timber companies such as Atlantic Lumber Company, The Empire Lumber Company, Carolina and Florida Land and Lumber Company, and Consolidated Naval Stores.  At one time a Volume B also existed, but that volume was not found when this material was microfilmed.
