Biographical/Historical:     Originally part of Alachua County, Gilchrist County was created by an act (Ch. 11371, Laws) of the State Legislature on January 1, 1926.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of marrige, probate and deed records.
Summary:     This series consists of the marriage license records for Gilchrist County, Florida beginning in 1927.  The marriage licenses contain the name of the brides and grooms, their age and race, their place of residence, the minister or legally authorized officer who performed the marriage, and the dates of the marriage. All of the volumes contain indexes.
