Biographical/Historical:     Osceola County was created by an act of the State Legislature on May 12, 1887 (Ch. 3768, Laws).  Osceola County was formed from the southern portion of Orange County and the western portion of Brevard County.  In 1917, the Legislature created Okeechobee County, in part from the southern section of Osceola County (Ch. 7401, Laws).  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of a microfilm copy of records of wills of Osceola County, Florida, beginning in 1915.  A will is a legal instrument by which a person declares how they wish their property or estate to be disposed of after their death.  Wills usually contain direct statements of relationship between the deceased and his family and denote ownership of specific property and goods.  An index is located at the beginning of each volume.
