Biographical/Historical:     Baker County was created by an act (Ch. 1185, Laws) of the State Legislature on February 8, 1861.  Originally part of New River County, Baker County underwent one additional boundary change in 1911 (Ch. 6244, Laws).  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of the records.
Summary:     The series contains a microfilm copy of the Baker County Record of Administration, starting in 1914.  When a person died intestate without leaving a will, an administrator could be appointed by the judge in that county.  This series consists of the application for letters of administration, oath and bond of the administrator, order appointing an administrator, warrant of appraisement and oath of appraiser, and letter of administration.  Included in the application are the names of the hiers, including the surviving wife or husband and the names of their children.  This series is indexed, both by name of the estate and the name of the adminstrator.
