Biographical/Historical:     Hernando County was created on January 22, 1850 by an act of the Legislature (No. 104, Laws) which changed the name of Benton County to Hernando County.  Citrus and Pasco counties were created from portions of Hernando County on June 2, 1887 (No. 22, Laws).  The Hernando County Courthouse was destroyed by fire in September of 1877.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     The series consists of a microfilm copy of the probate court minutes of Hernando County, Florida from 1884 to 1927.  Probate involves the transfer of property titles and legal responsibility from a deceased person to heirs, administrators, or guardians. Probate court minutes were recorded by the clerk of the court and contain case names and a brief description of court actions.  The volume contains an index.
