Biographical/Historical:     Franklin County was created by an act (No. 42, Laws) of the Legislative Council on February 8, 1832.  Originally part of Gadsden County, Franklin underwent one additional boundary change in 1851 (Ch. 412, Laws).  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     The series consists of a microfilm copy of deed records of Franklin County, Florida from 1874 to 1936.  The series includes deed books (1874-1900) and an index by grantee to real estate conveyances (1874-1936).  In the broadest sense, a deed (or conveyance) is a legal instrument by which real property is transferred from one party to another.  Deed books contain many types of title conveyances and contracts.  Among the most common types are warranty deeds, quitclaim deeds, and deeds of gift.  In addition to the grantee index, each volume contains an index.
