Biographical/Historical:     Pasco County was established in 1887 by an act of the State Legislature.  It was formed from the southern portion of Hernando County.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     This series consists of the deed records of Pasco County, Florida, from 1876 to 1953.  In the broadest sense, a deed (or conveyance) is a legal instrument by which real property is transferred from one party to another.  Included in this series are many types of title conveyances and contracts, including: mineral leases, quit claim deeds, and tax deeds.  The series includes four index volumes covering the years 1876-1913.  Also included is a microfilm copy of homestead patents.  This volume consists of the recorded copies of titles of land granted by the United States General Land Office to settlers under the Homestead Law of 1862. The volume is arranged chronologically by the date the patent was filed with the Pasco County Clerk of Court.  The recording dates range from 1884 to 1926; the actual dates of the patents are ca. 1883-1911.
