Biographical/Historical:     Daytona Beach, located in Volusia County, Florida on the Atlantic coast, was incorporated as the Town of Daytona Beach in 1905 (Ch. 5495, Laws).  Legislation passed in December, 1925 abolished the City of Daytona, Town of Daytona Beach, and Town of Seabreeze and created one municipal government known as the City of Daytona Beach (1925, Ch. 10466, Ch. 11461, Laws).  The Tax Collector's Office is responsible for the collection of local taxes.
Summary:     This collection contains the tax records from 1920 to 1951 maintained by the Tax Collector's Office of Daytona Beach, Florida. The records document tax collection for the City of Daytona Beach and its predecessor, the Town of Daytona Beach.  The records include tax assessment rolls, tax sales records, tax certificate registers, and street improvement assessments.  The documents provide tax information, including the name of taxpayer, description of land, value of real and personal property, amount of tax, and funds with the City Treasurer.
