The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     In March 1975, Florida joined the Coastal Plains Regional Commission, which included counties in Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.  The Commission was one of eleven established under Title V of the federal Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965.  The Commission supplied regions with grants-in-aid to promote economic development and maintain an effective federal-state partnership to foster accelerated but orderly economic growth.  The Governor was the official member of the Commission, but was represented by the Lieutenant Governor. Lt. Governor and Secretary of Administration Jim Williams served as representative under Governor Askew; Lt. Governor and Secretary of Commerce Wayne Mixon served as representative under Governor Graham.  The Coastal Plains Regional Commission ended in 1981, when federal funding was discontinued.
