Summary:     This series contains written summaries of testimony given before the Constitution Revision Commission in public hearings in 1977-1978.  This testimony was taken by the Commission at various locales throughout the state during 1977 and prior to the referendum of 1978.
Each hearing was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The mornings were devoted to testimony on such given subjects as the declaration of rights, collective bargaining for public employees, the judiciary, ethics, etc.  The afternoon sessions were open to general discussions of the constitution, the revision process, or other philosophical aspects of government.  The testimony was given by government officers, both past and present; organizations with an interest in government and its operations; and private citizens.
The Commission recorded the testimony given, which was then summarized in written form, as well as collecting the prepared remarks of witnesses.  What the Commission called "Index of prepared remarks" is actually a summary.  The summaries of recorded oral testimony, however, do contain actual indexes of witnesses.  The audiotapes of the hearings are in Series 1413.
