Biographical/Historical:     In 1990, the House Committee on Regulated Services and Technology (1990-1992) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws.  The Committee reviewed legislation on the lottery, public utilities, and consumer services.  These functions had been handled by the House Committee on Regulated Industries prior to 1990.  It also reviewed legislation on the regulation of cable television, telecommunication systems, space industries, and high technological industries.  These functions had been handled by the House Committee on Science, Industry, and Technology from 1988 to 1990.
    The House Committee on Regulated Services and Technology was abolished in 1992.  Its functions were divided between the House Committee on Regulated Industries (lottery); the House Committee on Business and Professional Regulation (public utilities, telecommunications, and high technology); and the House Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Services (consumer services).
Summary:     This series contains the audiotaped recordings of the House Committee on Regulated Services and Technology from 1990 to 1992.  The tapes document committee and subcommittee meetings and contain discussion on legislation on the lottery, public utilities, consumer services, cable television, telecommunication systems, space industries, and high technological industries.  The tapes are not transcribed or indexed.
