Biographical/Historical:     In 1972, the House Select Committee on Legislative Apportionment and the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting were established under the provisions of Ch. 69-52, Laws.  The Florida Constitution requires that the state legislature redraw the boundaries of its voting districts after each decennial census (Article III, Section 16, 1968 Constitution).  These Committees jointly reviewed reapportionment legislation for the 1970 census.
Summary:     This series contains audiotaped recordings of the House House Select Committee on Legislative Apportionment and the House Select Committee on Congressional Redistricting from 1972.  The tapes document committee and subcommittee meeting and contain discussion on  legislation on the redrawing of the boundaries of the election districts based on the 1970 census.
