In 1968, the House Natural Resources Committee (1968-1996, 2003-2004) became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. Though a similar committee has existed since then, official names changed throughout the years. These committees include: Public Lands and Parks (1969), Conservation (1970), Joint Committee on Areas of Critical State Concern (1979), Select Committee on Water Management (1981), Select Committee on Mining and Reclamation (1981-1982), Florida Container Deposit, Litter Control and Recycling Study (1985-1986), Select Committee on Coastal Resources (1987-1988), Select Committee on Waters (1988), Select Committee on Water Policy (1995-1996), and Conservation and State Lands (2007-2008). The Committee reviews legislation on the development and conservation of Florida's natural resources, mineral resources, and state lands.
