Biographical/Historical:     In 1988, the House Committee on Highway Safety and Construction became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provisions of Ch. 68-35, Laws. It assumed part of the functions of the Committee on Transportation. The committee reviewed legislation related to state and local highway systems, traffic safety, traffic regulations, and the Highway Patrol.
